Aug 18, 2008 · Sure, there are a few in other calibers but I think the powder was made for those in .223? Of course, I could be wrong. Sure as hell wouldn;t be the first time and won't be the last. lol And as already stated, each rifle is different. So, finding a powder for .223 is one thing, the other is finding what works in and or what your rifle likes best. Powders like H4895 or IMR4895 work in both .223 Remington (to include 5.56 NATO) and .308 Winchester but I can't seem to get a works best in all. Even with that said within for example the .308 Winchester family my gas guns (AR-10 and M1A) work very well with IMR4064 and IMR4895 but I get my best bolt gun results with AA2495. Selected as the powder for U.S. Military's M118 special ball long range sniper round. • Broad caliber range You'll be crunching powder with compressed loads if you go with Varget, but if you already have a can, go for it, as it makes accurate .223 loads. If you'll be loading closer to 5.56 specs rather than .223, Varget probably isn't your best choice for a hunting load as you give up velocity.

Jan 13, 2013 · I use the Sierra 65gr Gameking's,and the Speer 70gr Soft Points for my 223 hunting duties. Both bullets penetrate and expand well on hogs and deer. I prefer to use a bigger caliber on hogs, but if I only have one of my 223's at the time, they work fine with good shot placement at under 200 yards. Nov 15, 2019 · If there’s one thing sure about modern ammunition, it’s that right when you think you’ve found the best load for your hunting style, the ammo companies somehow make one that is even better! In this case, that’s true for both the venerable .30-30 and its lighter, faster-moving cousin, the .223. May 20, 2014 · After testing the Savage model 25 a few months ago, I was quite intoxicated with the new 17 Hornet cartridge, formalised by Hornady from the previously wildcatted 17 Ackley Hornet. With tiny powder consumption, good barrel life and low noise, what isn’t to like for a miniature plinking round that brings all those `long range`…
The listing is odd anyways. It lists up to 60 grain bullets in the 223 Remington section. The next section is 223 Remington Service Rifle Data and covers from 68gr to 80gr bullets. It also has a 5.56MM NATO section that covers 55gr to 80gr bullets. The 10th Edition may be better but I don't hold much hope for that. For the guy just getting started in reloading, the .223 AR-15 and Win 748 (or H335) make a good pair. Try to find some Lake City brass that has matching headstamps (I have about 8000 rounds of 92 LC from the same lot), use a VLD reamer and shoot-a lot. I had CFE223 for .223 Rem. reloads & was close to out with none available locally, so I got lucky and found BL-C(2) to try. There are many others out there He said it was his most popular 223 powder, good enough for me. I didn't buy it for the hype about reducing copper fouling but I always hope.

Apr 13, 2018 · The 75 TMJ can’t keep up at all, and past 200 yards it is in a different universe of kinetic energy compared to the other three loads. The 75 ELD and 80 SMK, while well below the energy of the 90 SMK, are well above the .223 Remington, and I consider their performance to be excellent. Flatter shooting but less energy is a trade off I can make.

Jul 10, 2014 · If a single powder and projectile primarily for subsonic loads turns out to work for .300 Blackout that would be great. If it turned out to that CFE 223 could fill that role that would be the best of all worlds.
